Ecological
Communities
whose economy is largely driven by natural resources must carefully weigh the
impact of job creation against preserving and enhancing ecology for public use
and enjoyment. Sustainable land use is the guiding principal of CIRI planning.
Whenever possible, multiple uses for natural resources are incorporated into
CIRI projects, including pedestrian and biking trails, enhancing scenic views,
improving highway aesthetics and strengthening open space systems by addressing
their accessibility and diversity. In addition, damaged or polluted land
continues to be identified for possible restoration.
