ATV trails
All-terrain
vehicle sales in Minnesota
have surpassed snowmobile sales, and the chase for recreational trails is on.
The number of Central Iron Range
residents who own "four-wheelers" or "quads", combined with the number
throughout the state (211,000 licensed ATVs in Minnesota alone), means trail development is
a recreational and economic endeavor. Local ATV clubs have successfully
negotiated with mining companies to develop a trail route in the
Chisholm/McCarthy Beach State Park area. The group will apply to the state's
Grant in Aid Program and the Iron Range Resources for trail construction
funding.
