Quality of Life
Central Iron Range Cultural Activities
An exceptional theater department at Hibbing Community College is home
to high-caliber local and traveling productions, as well as a local
children's theater troupe. Throughout the region, historical sites and
museums pay homage to the area's mining past and offer a glimpse back
in time for the curious and those with a love of history. With its
working trolley, interpretive sites and mine overlook, Ironworld
Discovery Center in Chisholm is the region's premier curator of
historical data and memorabilia. Ironworld's large park-like grounds,
amphitheatre, auditorium, research library, meeting center and
miniature golf course make it an attractive venue for private and
public events, including concerts, reunions and education. The Paulucci
Planetarium in Hibbing hosts fascinating shows and events, while the
Hibbing Memorial Building welcomes everything from rodeos to horseshoe
tournaments, the circus to hockey games. An active community of
artists, artisans and musicians often share their work and wisdom with
the public, and our community libraries have become a place of
educational programs and events geared toward children. The Hibbing
Public Library also curates an extensive Bob Dylan memorabilia
collection, which is on display year-round to honor the artist who was
raised there.
