Central Iron Range Recreation
Some of the state's finest golf courses are located within an hour's
drive from our communities, but our city parks, swimming beaches and
municipal golf courses receive strong support from local government and
residents alike. The Mesabi Trail and other paved biking trails connect
the Central Iron Range cities to each other and to local lakes and parks.
Additional local trail systems serve snowmobiles and ATVs, providing
links to state trails. Athletics are an important component of our
school districts' offerings – the area's boys' and girls' hockey teams
consistently contend for state tournaments -- but these are
supplemented by city teams for both children and adults. In addition to
city soccer, softball and volleyball leagues, private providers offer
dance, ballet, ballroom dancing, karate and other martial arts, yoga
and related activities, skating, skiing, tennis and many others.
